David Hollenbeck
A Tubist for 13 years and Trombonist for 11 years, David received his Bachelors in Music Performance with a Jazz Studies concentration from SUNY Fredonia in 2012. While at Fredonia, he received the prestigious Performers Certificate, which recognizes the most superior recital performances. David was a teaching assistant at SUNY Fredonia in both the beginning & advanced Tuba and Euphonium Classes where he served as both a group and a private instructor with a high student success rate. In addition, he has instructed high school level masterclasses around Western New York. David studied Tuba with Raymond Stewart and Jazz with Saxophonist Bruce Johnstone. He received additional musical influence from (among others) Bass Trombonist, Jeff Dee and SUNY Fredonia conductor, Dr. Paula Holcomb. An up-and-coming freelance musician, David has performed with (and for) several “big name” musicians including Tubist, Daniel Perantoni; Tubist, Jim Self; Saxophonist, Mike Dubaniewicz; Trombonist, Reggie Watkins; Trumpeter, Chris Tedesco and the Trombone Section of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Among the Western New York ensembles he has performed with: The Easy Street Big Band and the Hitmen Brass Band. David is currently affiliated with many ensembles in both the Rochester and Buffalo areas and performs a variety of musical styles on Tuba, Euphonium and both Tenor and Bass Trombones. |
